Goodbye April-Hello May.

For the longest time I didn't think we'd ever see this go away. In fact,
I had become so used to it, that I became numb to all the other storms that followed. Including the first week of April, when we had snow. It was as if, the climate change had shifted, and this was the new norm
for us New Englanders .

Remember this? How could we forget? The problem is, we all do forget. The second the last of the snow melts, and the first signs of flowers in your garden popping up, we all drift into the sounds and sights of Spring. It has been a longtime coming.

I am not going to get melancholy here, but, April was a sad month for some of us. Saying goodbye to dear friends, and loved ones.

It's never easy. The letting go of someone so close.

We are all living on this same spinning globe, and we all know, our time will eventually come up, when we get off this ride. I wrote last week or the week before ( I can't remember), but I essentially said, "live life as if you were dying". That's good advice for all of us.

Especially those who are sick and facing an uncertain future.

My friend Thom Moore did just that. And in a few weeks, we will be in California as we give Thom a proper Surfer's Paddle.

I became so emotional on this last day of April. I felt like it was the
true turning of the season. I was at the Wall taking photos and
just became so overwhelmed with emotion, as I looked up and saw these clouds and sky. We are all insignificant in the big picture.

Images like this are proof of that. The clouds that night stretched for miles out to sea. It was so beautiful. And look when I say I was emotional, I'm not talking about the Mr Double Rainbow guy. Hardly. I was silently emotional in my heart and soul.

It was a fully contained emotion. No outward appearance of sadness.

And FYI- If you ever see me crying like that clown did over a double rainbow, please feel free to kick me in the ass or slap me across the face to snap me out of it. I mean that.

It's just some clouds with a patch of blue. That's all. However, we all have to look for our own patch of blue, on those gray days.

I have to admit, I'm still buzzing over that review I got in the new ESM. Pick up a copy at your local surf shop if you haven't seen it.

ESM is the ONLY magazine dedicated to all of us here on the East Coast. From Florida to Maine. That's ESM. Pick up a copy today.

Once again (for those who missed it) the ESM review.

All four surf shops on our NH seacoast have the movie.
Cinnamon Rainbows, Pioneers, Zapstix, and

Now for Some Of My Weekly Global Observances
I was saddened by the news this week. From Nepal to Baltimore.
Having never experienced an earthquake, the shocking images from Nepal were hard to look at. Last time I heard it was over 6,000 dead. Scores more were injured. Not that any of us need to be reminded of how fragile life truly is, but this surely shined a bright light on that statement.

Amazingly enough, there were stories of survivors who spent
days trapped in the rubble. Days. I can't imagine what that was like. Horrifying. Just horrifying.

The other big story this week was the Baltimore riots. Look,
the death of Freddie Grey was tragic enough. But to burn your own city down? To make some kind of statement? I'm all for peaceful protests. Not a single concern for those who want to march for their passionate beliefs. But when you turn violent and do shit like this? It's not helping your cause. Believe me, it's not helping.

I hope they prosecute these criminals, and I hope they have a fair trial for the six arrested police officers.

The other big story this week was the birth of the latest Royal Baby. It's a GIRL!!! Yay! YIKES!!!

As always, my weekly humiliation of KSM. Enjoy.
Here we see baby KSM with his Royal parents

So once again, please enjoy the weekly humiliation of the mastermind terrorist who killed 3,000 innocent civilians on September 11th, 2001.
Khalid Sheik Mohammed (KSM), the mastermind behind 9-11 the captured Al Qeada ICON is getting his weekly slap in the face. You're welcome KSM fans.

* Note to self: Must pick up a case of Baby wipes at Home Depot
this week.

THE PATRIOTS DAY SWELL

This swell started on Monday April 20th, 2015 (Patriots Day). However it wasn't until the day after when things got bigger and cleaner. The local crew were all over it once the sea sickness left and the wind went west.
Filmed in NH. The usual suspects were out there. Casey Lockwood, Matt Colby, Kevin Grondin, Kai Nichols, Kyle Linseman, Max Fatello and a handful of others. This clip is the three best days in the exact order as the swell hit. The music is by guitar virtuoso Buckethead. Hope you like it kids.

PR Winter 2014 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

This is the footage I shot in March of 2014. There's some Big Tres here and some other funky little spots. *Note The large surf at Wildos is worth the price of admission alone. There's additional footage from Max.

The music is from Miguel Tito Rodriguez. I met Miguel in Rincon last winter. He was playing outside with his bass player and I was completely blown away by his playing. The song is called De Juno. The man can rip on the six string. I hope you like this little Tropical Clip.

Ralph
